Tikal Amorio Malbec 2008

Winemaker's Notes

Aromas of smoky oak and cherry. Mouthwatering, penetrating flavors of ripe red and black cherries, red berries. Quite rich and velvety on the palate, and finishes with just enough grip to make it a real winner with food. This is some seriously sexy Malbec. Pairs well with grilled or smoked meats such as beef, pork, and lamb. Also complements dishes prepared with cheese or cream sauces.

The Wine Advocate

The 2008 Amorio is 100% Malbec which spent 12 months in 60% new French oak. A glass-staining opaque purple, it offers up a splendid bouquet of sandalwood, Asian spices, incense, black cherry, and blackberry. Dense, layered, and long, this packed effort has enough structure to evolve for another 4-6 years. It will offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2023.

International Wine Cellar

Dark ruby-red. Smoked meat and dark chocolate dominate the nose. Lush, creamy and sweet; distinctly sexy and hedonistic malbec with a slightly high-toned quality that adds to its dark fruit appeal. Finishes with very supple tannins and impressive breadth and length.
